Yiannis Vasilonikolos, BW Converting, takes a seat on the TMAS board

The TMAS board consists of representatives from the member companies and contribute with important work that aims to advocate for and promote the development of the industry. In 2026, we welcome Yiannis Vasilonikolos, BW Converting, to the TMAS board.

With a background in textile engineering, Yiannis Vasilonikolos brings expertise within innovation and sustainable technologies to the composition of knowledge within the board.

”I am a textile engineer with more than 20 years of international experience in textile dyeing, finishing, and textile machinery. During my career, I have worked both in textile production and machinery manufacturing, with a strong focus on sustainable technologies, process optimization, and innovation. Today I am based in Sweden and working globally with advanced textile finishing and surface treatment technologies.”

Today, Yiannis work as Global Sales Leader at BW Converting / Baldwin Technology:

”My role includes global business development, strategic sales, customer and partner collaboration, and supporting the development and commercialization of sustainable textile technologies such as digital spray finishing, spray dyeing, and corona surface treatment systems.”

On why is it important to cooperate within the framework of a trade organization such as TMAS, Yiannis emphasizes the power of collaboration.

”I believe collaboration is becoming more important than ever for the textile industry. Through organizations like TMAS, companies can exchange knowledge, strengthen innovation, support sustainability initiatives, and create stronger international visibility for Swedish textile technology. It also helps connect different parts of the value chain and encourages long-term industry development.”

And his impression is that TMAS is on the right track.

”My impression of TMAS is very positive. I see a strong network with highly experienced people who genuinely want to support and promote the Swedish textile machinery industry internationally. I especially appreciate the open dialogue and collaborative mindset within the organization.”

On the question of his contribution and perspectives he is adding to the board, Yiannis says:

”I hope to contribute with international market knowledge, technical expertise within textile processing technologies, and a global industry perspective from working closely with textile manufacturers around the world. I also hope to support initiatives related to sustainability, innovation, and future textile technologies.”

The most important challenges for the textile industry to solve going forward will according to Yiannis be resource efficiency.

”Sustainability, digitalization, energy efficiency, automation, and resource reduction will continue to be key topics for the industry. I also believe the industry must focus on developing technologies that help textile manufacturers reduce water, energy, and chemical consumption while maintaining high productivity and product quality.”
