Why TMAS and its members are diving deep into AI agents

Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how companies operate. For TMAS members, it is not primarily about following a technology trend, it is about strengthening competitiveness in an increasingly global and fast-moving market.

When implemented effectively, AI can give companies a significant competitive advantage. By adding AI, companies can shorten lead times, improve decision-making, enhance quality, streamline documentation and free time for other value-creating work such as engineering, sales and service.

At the same time, many companies remain stuck in the experimentation phase. They test different AI tools but struggle to translate the potential into lasting changes in processes and ways of working. The challenge is often not the technology itself. Companies frequently lack:

  • Ownership and follow-up to drive change over time
  • A clear vision of what successful AI adoption looks like
  • Dedicated time for implementation

To address these challenges, TMAS is launching a long-term AI programme focused on AI agents – digital co-workers that can automate, support and enhance a wide range of business processes.

The objective is not simply to learn about AI, but to implement practical solutions that create measurable business value. By working together as an industry, member companies can share experiences, learn from one another and accelerate adoption while reducing both risk and cost.

”The winners will not be the companies that test the most AI tools. They will be the companies that successfully integrate AI into everyday business processes and real business results,” says TMAS Secretary General Therese Premler-Andersson.

AI represents a major opportunity for the Swedish textile machinery industry. Companies that act early and systematically will be better positioned to improve productivity, strengthen customer offerings and enhance their international competitiveness in the years ahead.
